As of 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 14, Blue Grass Energy completed restoration of service to all members who lost power due to an early-week snowstorm. The 10” snowfall from this storm was very wet and heavy which caused broken limbs, power lines, and poles, causing over 8,331 members to be without power.  The southern part of the service area was most affected including Anderson, Jessamine, Madison, Mercer, and Woodford Counties.

Crews were called into work early Monday morning. As they began repairs, help from sister electric cooperatives and contractors was requested. Linemen from Owen Electric of Owenton, KY., Nolin RECC of Elizabethtown, KY., Meade County RECC of Brandenburg, KY., Taylor County RECC of Campbellsville, KY., Powell Valley Electric of Tazwell, TN., and Davis H. Elliot Contracting of Lexington, KY., assisted with the restoration. A total of 62 additional linemen were working throughout our service area by Monday afternoon.

At the peak of the outage event, 8,331 members were without service. Employees worked around-the-clock to restore power as quickly and safely as possible.

“We can’t thank our members enough for their patience and support as we worked to restore power,” said Greg Harrington, VP of Operations/COO. “ We know how frustrating it can be when the power is out.”

Should members see subsequent damage as a result of the storm, they are encouraged to report that to BGEnergy at 888-546-4243.
