As of 3:35 p.m. on Sunday, July 22, Blue Grass Energy completed restoration of service to all members who lost power due to storms and high winds that came through Friday. The high winds, rain, and lightning caused broken limbs, poles, downed power lines and trees resulting in over 10,700 members to be without power. The hardest hit part of the service area was Anderson, Franklin, and Woodford Counties.

Our dedicated crews worked diligently along with assistance from sister electric cooperatives and contractors. Linemen from Inter-County Energy, Danville, Ky., Owen Electric of Owenton, Ky., Kenergy of Henderson, Ky., W.A. Kendall of Lawrenceburg, Ga., Wright Tree Service of Des Moines, Ia., and Davis H. Elliot Contracting of Lexington, KY., assisted with the restoration. Over 100 linemen were working throughout our service area by Saturday afternoon.

At the peak of the outage event, approximately 10,700 members were without service. Employees worked around-the-clock to restore power as quickly and safely as possible.

“We can’t thank our members enough for their patience and support during times like this.” said Greg Harrington, VP of Operations/COO. “We all depend on electricity and know how frustrating it can be when it is out.”

Should members see subsequent damage as a result of the storm, they are encouraged to report that to BGEnergy at 888-546-4243.
