Supreme Court temporarily blocks EPA's Clean Power Plan
On Tuesday, February 9, the Supreme Court temporarily blocked the EPA’s Clean Power Plan (CPP), which attempts to regulate carbon emissions from power plants.
The CPP would fundamentally change how electricity is generated, distributed and consumed in the United States. It targets coal, which is the main source of Kentucky’s electricity and would force utilities to use a different fuel source.
The temporary stay was in response to more than two dozen states challenging the plan in lower courts. Under this stay, the EPA cannot take actions to implement or enforce the CPP until pending legal challenges against the rule are resolved in the lower courts.
No matter the final outcome of the CPP, Blue Grass Energy remains committed to keeping your rates affordable while making life better, the cooperative way.
