Roy Honican elected President of RESNET Board of Directors
The Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET) has announced Roy Honican as the 2016 president of the RESNET Board of Directors.
Honican, Residential Services Coordinator at Blue Grass Energy, will lead the board’s effort of expanding RESNET’s services to rural America and mainstreaming the Home Energy Rating System (HERS) Index into the housing market.
Honican joined Blue Grass Energy twenty years ago after a career in the electrical and HVAC industries. In his current position, he is responsible for the residential energy efficiency programs at the cooperative. His vast experience includes being long-time chair of the Midwest Residential Energy Conference and serving in various capacities at the Home Builder’s Association of Lexington. He holds certifications from the Building Performance Institute (BPI), is a HERS rater, a RESNET Green Rater and holds a Green Advantage Residential Certification.
“My mission in life is to help people and my passion is energy efficiency,” said Honican. “With this honor, I can do both.”
Honican has proven his commitment to energy efficiency by being instrumental in working with the Home Builders Association of Lexington, Kentucky in having its builder members become RESNET Energy Smart Builders. He has also been partly responsible for working with the national brand Touchstone Energy to incorporate RESNET standards into its Together We Save program.
“Roy’s leadership with the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association and Touchstone Energy will serve RESNET well in addressing barriers limiting RESNET in rural America,” said Steve Baden, RESNET Executive Director.
